Other than that I'd say the movie is fairly accurate to the book, and it's extremely well done, and is a definite must watch if you like it when movies at least try to put a good effort into being as realistic as possible. I can understand some swearing here and there, but it does get to a point in the Martian that the swearing feels gratuitous and can detract a bit to a lot from the viewing experience depending on how much you do or don't mind swearing in movies. One thing that I do think weighs this movie down, and why it's a 9/10 and not a 10/10, is all the swearing. The story is engaging, and Matt Damon does a great job in playing a character that everyone is trying to save (he always seems to be playing a character that everyone is trying to save or everyone is trying to kill) This is a great sci-fi movie that's realistic enough to not be weighed down by being unrealistic or ridiculous in that way. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew.
